Collaborative Practice #2

Focusing on the comments made last week, I tried to focus on the change in work style and so i developed my work towards the brief we were given this week, we again did a group discussion  on each others work and i gathered two comments on my work.

  1. Abels work has come along nicely, he had worked very hard on developing his typography and has played around with colour more so than his previous brief.
  2. Abel has developed his work, more so this week, however for the upcoming brief, he will have to develop his work and think of some very creative ideas as this will require working in the third dimension. Abel could add the colours he has found affective and used them in the correct way.
This upcoming brief I am seeing as a bit of a challenge, however, I will try to work on it and develop an affective 3D image.

Collaborative Practice #1

I ran through my project development with 4 of my peers and i gather 2 viewpoints that will allow me to develop my work to work correctly and appeal to a wider audience.

  1. The work has a large variety of style and the proportion works well throughout the development, he just needs to add more colour to his work and develop and discover which colours work best with his work.
  2. His work is all very good, if we were focusing on typography, however, he needs to work more so on scale and proportion as his work shows a lot of styles that all have equal height and width and so the work may need to be developed overtime.
I will use these comments to work more so on future projects so that I can get the correct typography, style and colours that appeal to a wide audience.

Jakub Caja - Inspirational Artists - Project Fonetic

I decided to look at the Fonetic project by Jakub Caja as it was appropriate to my store name (being 'Decibel') and so I toyed with the idea of adding sound waves into the logo/font style or as a small logo to my store and an iconic image to reference the store with

This group of artists have put together a very modern stylised web site design and I wish to create my music shops website to be more modern and very accessible for all ages, and sop this would require simple directions to different pages to be accessible to a generation which is not used to web pages with many links all over it.

During this project I will be rebranding a musical shop which requires rebranding of logo, colour scheme, packaging and i will also be including a web site/ web design and so i needed to find some type of inspiration towards that area of study, I looked on the behance network and instantly found a company with sharp design ideas and colours and i realised that if i was to rebrand a logo, it should also be appealing to the big wide world of the internet.

This graphic designer (like hovercraft) uses small imagery to represent a company name and logo, this would work great with my musical shop redesign and i would like to make it iconic in all the packaging and logo design.

This group of graphical designers are very inspirational as they link with many aspects of graphic design work that I find very creative but simple. The way this company uses simple small images to represent a brand or company is very simple and effective and i think this could work very well with my project, a simple musical symbol (not something you see everyday on a music shop like a record of CD) would be very effective and would represent the shop simply and would be an icon to the shop.

Republic Design Consultants - Inspirational Artists

I chose to look at this small design company as all of their work is very inspiring as all or the logo designs have a set colour scheme and are all very simply created. I was able to visit this small company as it was accessible from my home and so i went to have a look at all the work they had done and how they came to the final designs. The way they create many different logos which have nothing in common and still all look so creative is very imaginative.

Velvet Creative is a company formed of a team of graphic designers, all the work they collaborate together is cleverly created and all very well structured. I also like the layout and structure of all the work as it is well made and uses small imagery effectively.
